Technical data
The new concept Pail Packer has been designed by Gimax to revolutionise the process
of packing wire into drums. The INF-4 Pail Packer is a fully packaged unit in
the sense that the only separate entity from the main body is the driven pay-off.
The dancer and the electrical control cabinet have been incorporated into the
main body. This means a reduction in space occupancy and consequently a saving
in costs. The pail packer can handle various drum types (round, hexagonal, octagonal)
and sizes ranging from small 100kg up to the traditional 350kg drums and right
up to the large 1000kg drums – the INF-4 does not require drums with a central
core, another saving in costs. The INF-4 is a high speed machine which has been
able to achieve in some cases, a linear speed of over 30 metres / second with
1mm diameter MIG (CO2) wire - the final speed will always vary depending on the
wire type, characteristics and size. The unit does not use the traditional method
of raising and lowering the drum during the process; the INF-4 makes use of an
innovative process in which the drum remains at floor level and the front part
of the machine is raised while the wire is being layered. The combination of the
drum rotation, flyer rotation and distinctive design of the flyer ensure the highest
quality, twist-free layering of the wire within the drum. The
unit is equipped with wire straighteners, capstain and vibrator to settle the
wire in the drum and also has an operator platform to allow easy access to all
parts of the unit for maintenance and to thread the wire through the system.
The INF-4 can also be equipped with an optional video-cam system which allows
the operator to check the inside the drum as well as other parts of the system
while the unit is in operation.
